Black Widow
Posted by Caliah Lyon on April 13, 2008
Take one black swimsuit. Cover with a satin shrug, add billowing black sleeves and a sculptured cowl for volume. Top with a vintage black hat, add heavy gold jewellery. Sleek black footless tights optional. Serve chilled in stiletto heels.
Bijou’s new releases occasioned for a shift in my usual clothing routine. I rarely wear swimsuits unless for a photo shoot, and so I tend never to buy them. Kotobuki Jewell’s new Fabulous swimsuit, however, I thought merited a buy, and I found myself getting the fatpack for the coloured wrap tops (that come on separate shirt and jacket layers). Temptation got the better of me and I set out to have some fun with the swimsuit in black, which, for me, usually means more black, big shades, and a resulting outfit that I usually wish I hadn’t come up with, as I always end up looking kookily overdressed (my definition of fun is strange, I know). That’s what SL is for, though, isn’t it?
If the first outfit seems to bare a little too much belly, I’d suggest layering a sheer undershirt beneath the shirt and jacket layer. I’m afraid I’m not the best at pulling off colour, so I opted for a sheer grey jacket from Shir Dryke (shop coming soon), though the end result is far less dramatic than with just bare skin.
My only complaint on the Bijou swimsuits is that the bottom half has a noticeable seam along the navel, though it’s only obvious at a closer glance. The detailing on the gold ring buckle and the texturing isn’t bad at all, and at Bijou’s prices, I don’t regret buying the fatpack. I suspect it will be a challenge to mix these tops, though.
If you read all the way through this post, it’s time to reap the rewards – that is, if you’re fast enough. The first three posters to reply (with a complete sentence) will receive this unreleased black pearl and diamond cocktail ring from Muse in their choice of gold or silver, and will have it delivered to them as soon possible. Happy posting!

Second Night Life ll
Posted by Lucas Lameth on October 25, 2007
S E C O N D . N I G H T . L I F E . II
I just wasn’t done shooting at the “The L Word” Sims so here’s the sequel from Manna’s storyboard snapshots. Cheers! — The social scene is half the fun of fashion. First we start with a simple but oh-so sleek Gisaci Classic Cashmere Turtleneck in Charcoal (L$145) and Armidi Limited A001 Jeans in Regular Industrial (L$145). Dark denim is always key for a comfortable semi-formal look. Blue and light denim recommended for casual day wear and with light colors like pastel. Remember, Caliah Lyon’s Muse Classic Tank Watch (L$200 set of two) will fit MEN and WOMEN. I cannot stress this enough. These are the classiest watches in Second Life. Not owning them is a FASHION SIN! — Get these stylish 1-prim wine glass decorations (L$90 m/c/nt) at mike’s studio, Roosa (217, 103, 27).
Refreshed? Start the night life off with Armidi Limited new Paris Henley in Black (L$125). Ginny’s Last Call Moderno Ladro Pinstriped Pants (L$300 for Ladro Outfit) keep this look classy. — Ofcourse, Manna and myself always always choose Gold. Fellows often steer toward silver but times-a-changing and I say be brave fellas’, add a little gold. Even if it’s one of those fancy tooth implants. At Armidi, I was also able to snatch some Pyramid Cuffs in Black & Gold (L$135) and these snazzy Fi Umo Sunglasses (L$225).
Relaxing at the bar before hitting the dance floor. Smoking a FNKY! Cigarette (L$150). Easy slick hair, spike it up! with Rach Snookums Frangipani “Jake” Hair in Chocolate (L$200). My favorite male sex appeal skin of choice in SL is none other than FNKY! Antonio in Tan/Baby Face Soul Patch (L$1850).
Time to show these suckers how to spin the beat! Look bad-ass in Luth Brodie’s Reel Expression Mens poses (L$150 each).
You wake up with a hangover and a stranger in your bed. It happens. At least you look stylish in Armidi Intimizzio Boxer Briefs in Dark Gray (L$125) and out of bed hair The Grammar from Armidi in Mocha (L$295). Slip on your FNKY! Executive Glasses I (L$330) and turn them red to look smart and busy.
And now you nod and take down their number in your savvy 803 Slurry Street Pocket PC (L$350). Put them down as “The blonde one with wavy hair”. Smile, escort them out and get more sleep for tomorrow night.
My eyes of choice at the moment is Purple eyes from Fashionably Dead (around L$60).

Hair: Vivian in Tawny, ETD.
Middle: Natascha Trench Coat in Red and Grey Leather Gloves, Casa Del Shai; Scarf (Electric Bugaloo) from Gritty Kitty (Block Party Exclusive), tinted black; Nea-Ban Fabulous sculpted shades; Melisande boots in Onyx, Last Call Vamp; Celine Pearl Drop Earrings in Black Pearl/Silver, and Ariane Ring in Diamond/Silver, Muse. Hair: River in Iron, Maitreya.
Right: Audrey Coat in Cranberry by Kat Palmer, Immortelle; Bucket Hat (hair removed, reattached to chin) by Alla Ruff, Veschi; Disco Blitz Scarf in Purple from the Disco Blitz tops (store freebie) by Relika Itamae, Relika; Skirt prims (attached to stomach) and glitch pants (tinted black) from the Stray Horse outfit, Paper Couture; Black Leather gloves from Tete a Pied; Hose in Brown by Blaze (from the 13-colour bundle); Black High Heels and Black Pearl Drops (from the River Stone set) by Paper Couture. Hair: Aveda Short Crop in Cinder, ETD.
These coats have been posted about rather often on the Fashion Planet feed, but I wished to include them in my look book with a few accessories, and I was a little late in posting. Of the Artilleri Kats Coats, my favourites are predictably the snow leopard and this, in simple, classic black, both of which I immediately bought upon release; I was very happy with the fit of the prim skirt and the texturing on these coats. Both of Shai’s Natascha coats are must-haves, and I was almost sorry to wear this scarf over the lapel and button detailing.
Of the accessories available now, I spent several days wearing this pair of sunglasses from Nea-Ban. It’s mod and therefore tintable, and goes with almost everything. I’m waiting for them to come out with sculptie retro frames. As far as hats go, I’m fairly conservative in comparison to hat gurus like Mariya Nesiote *grins* but the two above are very easy to match with many of the fall coats. Siyu’s cloche is certainly one of my favourites now, and very affordable, while the Veschi hat is 50% off the usual price, so make sure to pay them a visit.

I’d been looking at this ad campaign for Marc Cain by Seregel (highlighted in many forums and blogs) for a few days and wanted to share the photos. The clothes are simple but lovely, and the lighting works very well with the colours. Click for larger versions.

The Catwalk Collection by Last Call
Posted by Caliah Lyon on August 19, 2007
Beautiful does not even begin to describe the Catwalk Collection, the latest release by Last Call. When I mentioned Jean-Paul Gaultier’s stunning fall collection and some highlights of the fall fashion shows in my previous posts, I’d hoped that some of the visual elements of this season would serve as inspiration to designers and find their way to SL; I was surprised and delighted that Ginny not only took notice, but took these elements and turned out a release of such quality that it is easily one of her best to date.
Here are my picks from the Last Call Catwalk Collection.
When I was perusing the new releases, one kept catching my eye. It was in the colours that I used to favour before I’d changed skins, and the uniqueness of the coat in the photo intrigued me. As it turns out, the Dominica Nordic Riding Coat easily became one of my favourites of this collection; this is an outfit that one can take pleasure in with just a leisurely appraisal of the details. Photos really cannot do the crystal-studded coat and riding breeches justice; this particular outfit should be seen to be appreciated.
Last Call Catwalk Collection: Dominica. Liah Boots in Gunmetal by Lyra Muse, Last Call Vamp. Hair: Europa in Taupe by Stumbelina Ophelia of Cake; Heirloom Memories Locket in Multi/Gold by Lucas Lameth of Earthtones.
The first I had to acquire was this, the Equestria outfit. Sleek, chic, androgynously elegant yet feminine, given more flair with epaulets and dramatically long, sweeping coat-tails, this coat and breeches ensemble suits my taste perfectly. The texture of the coat is such that you can almost feel the weight and density of the fabric. The floral detail on the blouse, the delicate lace at the sleeves – all in all this is a beautifully detailed riding suit that should satisfy the most discerning of tastes.
Last Call Catwalk Collection: Equestria. Melisande Boots in Onyx by Lyra Muse, Last Call Vamp. Hair: Europa in Coffee by Stumbelina Ophelia of Cake.
